WHAT IS IELTS?

Exam comprises of four modules.They are:
Reading: It involves comprehensive reading consisting of 40 questions in time constraint of 60 minutes(Higher the ratio of correct questions, higher will be the band).
Writing: It involves two tasks which assess your written expressions in different parents ranging from grammar to well framed sentence structures. Module has time constraint of 60 minutes.
Listening: Understanding what others are speaking is also an important side of language. Keeping pace with the conversation is being tested. It involves 40 questions with time constraint of 30 minutes
Speaking: "Expression of Speech" or "Verbal Expression" ensures how better one understands a language. Assessment is generally done in three major areas: Fluency, Grammer, Lexical Resources
Spoken module generally goes for 30 minutes.
DURATION of EXAM:
Duration of Exam generally is 2 Hours 40 Minutes and modules covered are reading, listening, writing. Spoken exam happens on separate days, which is intimated by authorised organisation through which candidate has filled the exams and is 10-15 minutes of duration.
IELTS test is generally conducted throughout the year. IDP and British Council are the delegatory centres for rendering this language test. The test is held four times a month in 38 cities across India. Student may after consulting the exam calender can select best siutable dates.
VALIDATION OF THE TEST:
Test is valid for two years after the date of your result.
Every module is alloted bands out of 9 (Highest band in IELTS is 9). Every module has distinct marking style.
